What do you do in the groups?
Our groups are lead by professionals with relevant training and experience in grief, they facilitate and support the group. We focus on building trust and a safe space in the group in order to make it easier for participants to put their thoughts into words. In group sessions we mostly talk about different topics related to grief based on what participants would like to talk about. Depending on the age of participants, we also do other things such as draw, paint, watch video clips etc. We emphasise both talking and having a nice time together at the group sessions. It is entirely up to you to decide what and how much you want to share or express in your group.
When and where are group sessions?
Group sessions take place at Berin’s cosy premises in Niels Finsens gøta in Tórshavn. They are divided by age, so we have separate groups for children, teenagers and youth. They usually start every six months, roughly in Jan/Feb and Aug/Sep. Otherwise they start as soon as there are enough registered participants. Groups meet every other week for two hours for a total of 10 times. Group participants meet under the guidance of two group facilitators. When a course of group sessions concludes, participants have a conversation with the group facilitators to reflect on the process.

How much does it cost to take part in a group?
The cost of participation in group sessions is DKK 300. However, the participation fee must never be an obstacle to participating in a group. If it becomes an obstacle, we will find a solution.
How do I sign up?
You can schedule a counselling session by calling or writing to Berin or you can ask someone else to contact Berin for you. You will then be invited to an introductory conversation, possibly with your parents/next of kin and based on that conversation you can decide whether you would like to take part in what we offer.
